In Florida migration gets started in July usually with shorebirds soon followed by passerines. Now that we are in the month of August, we will start getting more warblers as well as some orioles. The more common species of warbler that we get are Prairie Warbler, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated Warbler, American Redstart, Black-and-white Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler, Yellow Warbler and Louisiana Waterthrush. Once September gets here, we will get more and more migrants all of the way through October. Migration is much longer in the fall than it is in the springtime.

Today had had seven species of warbler in about three hours of birding. The best ones for me were Prothonotary Warbler and Louisiana Waterthrush. Try as I might, I was not able to get any photos of the Prothonotary Warblers, they would not sit still. I did get a nice photo of a Louisiana Waterthrush which was nice.
