When we got word of a very rare Kirtland’s Warbler at a park in North Miami, it was time to load the car and go! My wife and son got ready as I loaded camera gear and cold drinks. The hour-plus drive isn’t the nicest because of the Miami area traffic. Once we parked our car, it only took a matter of minutes to see this spectacular warbler. Many birders were present taking photos and enjoying this very rare warbler. Kirtland’s Warbler is one of the rarest songbirds in North America. The total popular has increased from a low of less than 1,000 birds to now over 4,000 birds. Thanks to some excellent conservation measures this bird continues to grow in numbers.
