I was able to take clients birding from California to see some great South Florida birds.  They wanted Shiny Cowbird and Black-whiskered Vireo as well as the chance to search for a vagrant Yellow-headed Caracara.  They were not disappointed as we were able to find all three birds!  We found Shiny Cowbird at feeders in my yard, from there we traveled to Key Largo and found Black-whiskered Vireo.  We then had a long drive to Haulover Marina Park in Miami.  Within ten minutes I heard a Northern Mockingbird scolding on the beach side of the marina.  I told my clients to pull over to let me see what the Northern Mockingbird was scolding.  I was pleasantly surprised to see the Yellow-headed Caracara sitting in a Coconut Palm!  I waved for my clients to come over.  We all had stunning views of this vagrant species most commonly found in South America!  I called a friend who was with another tour group and gave them our location.  They were able to get to us in time and were able to get all 10 clients on the bird!  That was an exciting day!  We had a nice celebratory dinner nearby to end the long day!
